Play Therapy
Young children developmentally do not posses the vocabulary necessary to fully process complex challenges such as anxiety, depression, bullying, parental separation, and trauma. For these children Play Therapy is recommended so that children can utilize toys as tools to express their emotions and receive validation. This form of therapy is grounded in Humanistic and Rogerian theories of behavioral intervention and is ideal for young children (ages 2-12 ). I am a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) credentialed through the Association for Play Therapy (APT). This therapy gives children the safe space to express themselves and develop emotional resiliency. Treatment is delivered in one hour sessions over a period of approximately 10-20 weeks with clients reporting improvement within the first few weeks of treatment. For more information about this type of therapy, click here.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT ) is an evidence-based form of Family Therapy designed to address behavior and attachment concerns in young children (ages 2-9 ). I am an approved trainer and certified Parent Child Interaction Therapy therapist. This therapy trains and coaches parents to handle defiance and opposition in an effective manner. It also helps parents form and strengthen healthy attachments to their children through play and positive reinforcement. This therapy involves a high degree of parent involvement. It also offers a fast response and high success rate. Treatment is delivered in one hour sessions over a period of 12-20 weeks with parents reporting improvement within the first three weeks of treatment. For more information about this type of therapy click here.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment aimed at addressing a range of emotional disturbances including depression, anxiety, irritability, low self-worth, high stress, and negative thinking. This form of therapy involves a therapist working one on one with a client to identify the symptoms and beliefs that make clients feel stuck and supplying strategies to get unstuck. These strategies involve learning new coping skills, receiving education about symptoms, developing safety plans, and titrated exposure to traumatic memories. This therapy creates a sense of resiliency and renewal for those that have experienced loss, persecution, victimization, or other form of trauma. This form of therapy is appropriate for older children, adolescents, and young adults. Clients report improvements within the first few weeks and length of treatment is dependent on each individual client. For more information about this type of therapy, click here.

Trauma & Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents
Trauma & Grief Component Therapy is an innovative treatment modality that addresses the complex needs of youth that have experienced the death of a loved one or experienced a similar form of major attachment disruption.

Sandtray Therapy
Sandtray Therapy is a unique therapeutic intervention grounded in Jungian Analytic and Gestalt theories of psychotherapy. Often used as an adjunct to more traditional forms of verbal therapy, Sandtray Therapy encourages clients to project psychogenic conflict onto miniatures that can then be manipulated and therapeutically processed. This form of non-verbal / semi-verbal intervention has been used as a component in the treatment of anxiety, depression, early childhood trauma, and attachment wounds. Sandtray Therapy promotes healthy neurobiological integration and is adaptable adapted to therapeutic work with clients across the age spectrum (children, adolescents, and adults). Clients report the process of metaphorically representing their challenges and stuck points and metaphorically interceding provides a sense of validation, acceptance, empowerment, and direction. Strengths-Based & Solution Focused Therapy
I adopt a flexible, integrative blend of psychotherapy interventions when working with adults. I draw heavily from the Strengths Based Approach grounded in social work theory and the pragmatic Solution Focused Therapy. From this evidenced-based perspective I help adults process through major life changes, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, divorce, anger and aggression, issues of intimacy, and many other psychosocial dilemmas. Clients of any age can benefit from this powerful blend of psychotherapeutic intervention. Clients typically meet with me one on one for approximately one hour per week. Clients report significant improvement after the first month of treatment and the length of treatment is dependent on each individual client.
Safe Space
The Healing Place treats clients from a culturally humble perspective that validates the right of each individual to define themselves and what treatment interventions best align with their identity. We recognize that each client is a unique blend of intersectionality between their age, racial, cultural, ethnic, ableness, developmental, religious, gender, sexual, and generational identity. The Healing Place offers therapy services in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language. The Healing Place strives to be a welcoming and safe space for all persons.
